A lecture/demo by Ko Festival performer Laurie McCants who will present excerpts from Industrious Angels, her solo “handcrafted-story-spinning-shadow-puppet-memory-play-with-music" evoking the secret creative lives of women, mother/daughter bloodlines, and the ghost of Emily Dickinson. She will reveal her process, illuminating how she kindled her creative fire by collaging together inspirations from the female artists, past and present, who are her spiritual nurturers.Taking inspiration from Emily Dickinson’s line “God permits Industrious Angels— Afternoons— to play—“ you are invited to stay for a hands-on workshop that will use simple materials and tools (scissors, paper, flashlights), to explore how handicrafts can create theatrical magic.
